Due to the secret squirrel nature of working as a freelancer across a variety of digital agencies in London (that, and all the non disclosure agreements I signed in blood) I can't unfortunetly put all of my work online.

If you're interested in seeing some of my more recent work and/ or workings, please get in touch, I'd be more than happy to talk you through it and show you some examples… as long as you keep your eyes closed.

Nah, just kidding, get in touch.

Anobii is social networking service for book lovers. Users can categorise books based on author, title, (and the slightly more obsure, but defintely more useful) themes and keywords. So for example, if you're interested in novels set in London that contain themes of teenage zombie romance, you can start a category in Anobii. Add your recommended books to the category and with any luck others will start adding books they believe suitable.

Users can also purchase the e-books in app and read using the built in e-reader.

My role on this project was a freelance digital art director working for the branding agency We Are The Council but closely with a Anobii's team of UX, and developers.

The project was to re-brand television station Virgin 1 to (Sky) Channel One. The client was keen to keep the Virgin tone and character, however due to ownership rights the puppet (named Red) created for the channel and loved by its viewers was completely off limits.

As a result we kept close to the current branding and distilled Red back to his core essence – a ball of string. The string takes on Red’s life blood and cheeky way of life through its movement (sneakily slinking about), language (writing out words), or by weaving together objects to create scenes and stories with wit and humour.

My role on this project was a freelance digital creative working with a small team of broadcast creatives/ animators at Red Bee Media. I was involved in the concept stage and designed the channel logo.

imagenation

imagenation
Website promoting content created with the help of Abu Dhabi’s first film financier and developer.

Abu Dhabi has a history in story telling that dates back thousands of years. In this tradition imagenation aims at fostering the development of films that shine a light on their culture and heritage, while also encouraging new and emerging directors and film makers from the region.

The website was created with this in mind, using a hybrid of html and flash. Html so we can easily update, search and catalogue the extensive content that will be uploaded over the years to come. While the feature content area has been created in flash to act as a never ending story, leading users through a journey of dawn, day, dusk and dawn again while animating content on using regional iconography, and motifs that mimic the architecture of Abu Dhabi.

Working with Red Bee Media from pitch through to design, my role on this project was digital creative and designer working deliver psds for development handover.

Online portal aggregating internal ABC Television content and external arts related calendar content.

ABC Television have an extensive backlog of arts content, varying from full length programs, audio interviews and written reviews. The challenge was make clear pathways that allow an eager and keen arts audience to easily access content of interest from a variety of different mediums.

Taking cue from well designed gallery spaces, we’ve created a website that uses clean lines and simple typography allowing the content to be the hero. Among other things, users can watch, read, listen and comment on a piece of content and then be referred to a ‘like’ piece of content that they may have otherwise missed. The interface allows buried ABC arts content to be unearthed.

Working with the talented Mr Koefoed, my role on this project was co-information architect, creative and designer. The project was then handed over to an internal ABC Multi-platform team to develop the html and CMS.

one green bean
Website promoting the companies key offerings.

Full of passion, quirk and PR lingo, the staff of One Green Bean aim to re-inventing the PR landscape in Australia by creating innovative work that will ‘make you drop your marmalade’. Two of the company’s to live by motto's are ‘expect the unexpected’, and ‘great things come from humble beginnings’... and that’s what we endeavoured to deliver for their website.

Using a single green bean as a humble starting point we’ve created unexpected worlds out of their mottos, jargon, and PR lingo that is often bantered around the office in a tongue-in-cheek way.

My role on this project was art director and creative working with a small team including a designer, animator and developer. Created while working at Host.

john safran
Online viral game promoting the launch of Australian television comedy John Safran vs God.

John Safran, an Australian television personality is known for interrogating religions - some would say to the point of mockery? We thought it only fair to turn the tables and allow users to choose their favourite religious figures and get a little revenge.

Success? In most respects, the game caught the attention of many Australians including the Scientologists, who threatened to take legal action against SBS and John Safran if all references to them weren’t removed. Let's just say job done and leave it at that.

Working once again with the talents of animation guru Mr Smith, my role on this project was lead creative, IA and character designer. Created while working at SBS TV.

bankwest
Bankwest were in the process of rolling out a new proposition, Happy Banking. This meant re-thinking banking from the ground up and included lifting the glass between their tellers and customers, cutting the strings on pens and removing the long queues.

A television screen has been positioned in a waiting lounge, promoting Bankwest's products, informing customers of the changes to Bankwest, and entertaining them with witty humour, but more often bad jokes.

My role on this project was art director and creative working with a small team including a copywriter and animator. Created while working at Host.

the chaser's war on everything
Website to promote the The Chaser's War on Everything new series, broadcast on ABC Television. We were given the (almost unheard of) privilege of full access to the Chaser cast and set, so we took complete advantage it.

Taking cue from the shows opening title sequence we created a website that catalogues and creates dossier files on each and every item on the set. Users can navigate through the space (thanks to a steady cam shoot) and read about and watch video on random items they find. Users can watch the set being assembled, find out more about the personalities and watch their favourite clips.

In the lead up to the launch we allowed users to create personalised messages from Osama Bin Laden, which was hosted on the ABC news website and could be forwarded onto friends for evil laughs.

My role on this project was lead creative and designer working with a team of producers, camera operators, editors, animators, developers at ABC. Created while freelancing for ABC Multi-platform.

Website for (arguably) Australia's finest craft beer - James Squire. The creative and design took inspiration from the brewers beer making process. We wanted the website to appear as crafted as the beer itself.

Notebooks are keep by the master brewers during their experimentation process, which can only be likened to a series of blueprints with a dash of Leonardo da Vinci's technical drawings. With this in mind, we designed the website to layer up as it loads bringing in illustration, content and colour.

My role on this project was digital art director, creative and designer working with a small team at Host including an illustrator, designer, animator, and developer.

Website for Australian comedian Lawrence Leung as he takes his Television debut on the ABC Network.

In the series Lawrence explores his childhood dreams in the hope of growing up; from learning to be a man, trying to be the best in the world at something, and to finding love. It felt only natural to create a childlike scrapbook of his experiences and memories, and allow users to interact with his character (virtually) every step of the way.

My role on this project was an all rounder; lead creative, designer, and illustrator. Created while freelancing for ABC Multi-platform.
